In Marbella recent discoveries have come together to bring the history of the town into focus. The 18th century San Luis fort is being renovated as a listed building, after recent human remains discoveries. In addition, the area near the hotel La Fonda is being excavated with the intention of discovering the history behind some graves found in the vicinity. The hotel will incorporate a viewing area for the findings (see photo). Further afield, in San Pedro de Alcantara, some well-preserved Roman kilns were uncovered after a storm. These and other recent findings have brought attention to Marbella as a truly historic town and not just a tourist resort.
