This year brings changes in town centres accross Spain, including the Malaga province. Towns such as Malaga, Marbella, Fuengirola, Estepona and others are implementing low-emissions restrictions for certain vehicles. New stickers for cars and motorbikes have been issued that identify their eco-friendliness and whether they can enter the inner city areas. Although they are not compulsory, individual cities can demand them and Madrid is one example where fines have also started being issued.

There are 4 types of stickers in increasing environmental friendliness: B (vehicles after 2001), C (vehicles after 2015), Eco (for gas or hybrids), and 0 (electric). Cars that do not fall into these categories cannot have a sticker and therefore potentially cannot enter inner cities that enforce them. The cost is 5 euros and can be purchased from this link on the Correos website.
