The sailing industry of Andalucia is breaking all-time records with increased popularity this year. More than 7000 yachts were registered in 2021, which was a double digit increase over the last 2 years. The yacht rental market has registered similar growth. One of the most impressive statistics is the number of people acquiring sailing qualifications to sail leisure craft: in total, 95000 licences were registered in 2021. The most iconic port of the Costa del Sol, Puerto Banus, has averaged more than 80% occupancy, and has seen increased interest from British, French, and Swedish visitors.
